Hmm, as I recall, pinky oaths are a pretty frequent past-time for the very young...one of those conventional childhood rites of passage, I suppose...
[""pinky oaths"" literally nobody calls it that hugo...your normalcy cred is already tanking w/this.....]
As for the other things, well. Common hallmarks of youth too. Or at least the more typical schooling culture? Ha, to be fair, I actually haven't had those experiences either...but my upbringing was rather unconventional. [typical wealthy family's private schooling tbh....when he wasn't having to play squid games against his half-siblings, anyway. i mean what.] Would it be impolite to assume that perhaps yours was unconventional too?
[maybe a nicer way to phrase it than calling it sad at least????]
Got a nice ring to it when phrased that way, don't you think so? An "oath" is simply a "promise" with much more gravity, besides!
[real blind leading the blind hours here...oh no.....
but also, goodness, doesn't this one have a knack for answering his own questions as he goes? kind of revealing plenty out the gate there for sure...hugo opts not to point this out for now, though, if only mostly out of the amusement of it all.]
It's true, that calling something unconventional can mean several things. For my own part, let's say I was positioned rather separate from the vast majority of my peers for a long while...
And you? Busy in the good way, or busy in the bad way?
[true we can safely assume he's not nearby right now...has maybe dropped by your store a time or two past for little mundane odds and ends! but--]
Ah, very good to hear it was not a matter of misfortune or otherwise bad circumstances, in any case! [just busy, huh...] Either way, between adulthood just pushing other priorities to the forefront, and most other adults enjoying the luxury of having fulfilled these experiences in their youth already, perhaps we cannot be blame them for considering this sort of thing childish.
Yet still, is there really anything wrong with being a bit late to enjoying such things either? Now I wonder this, reminded as I am thanks to this list of yours...
[not that he's actually aware of any item being erased or not on that list over there. maybe getting a bit of a hunch through the overall conversation that shin might be somewhat embarrassed about this, though. indirect...? encouragement...??
haha, let's not let that sink in for long. pivot time--!] Anyway, my, I really must beg your pardon. This tangent must be getting pretty long! That wasn't what I actually wanted to ask you about at all...I guess it's just been on my mind, ever since I last found that list laying about...this curiosity of mine gets out of hand sometimes, my apologies. You have my thanks for humoring me all the same.
More to the point, I actually wanted to ask you about something more, business-related... [uuh...hugo this phrasing though....]
[ a softie overall, a liar by necessity but undermined by his own sincerity and tendency to be Earnest TM, shin...really is embarrassed that the list (one of many) was found. that was the one of the first, labeled simply 'to do' like it was groceries or something. as he got to 8, 12, 14, he made more lists. high school tropes. first love tropes. hero tropes because he thought heroes were cool even if he'd definitely never be one, he ended up being someone who had one and well, go figure! firsts. maybe out of all of these the 'to do' one was the least embarrassing come to think of it. whew (?)!
it is a little comforting to have someone else voice what he's hoped here and there: that it's not really too late to experience some of these things, albeit not all.
some of that depends on him living long enough to do it of course.
hugo's last message makes shin tilt his head. huh. ]
i don't mind tangents.
[ it's...sorta like being inside someone's head without the pressure on his own, really. not that he takes it all at face value, but the Amount is comparable, sometimes. ]
business? like...with the store?
[ his guard can't help but be raised. if it's to do with sakamoto's store, it's no big deal. if it's to do with his previous occupation which sadly isn't exactly private if one circulates in the underground, well...unconsciously, shin worries his lower lip. ]
