Never said you wouldn't be! It just occurs to me now that I may need to defer to your authority on such matters, so seeing your confidence in it here is pretty reassuring.
[She sure does read books, doesn't she...well, it's probably hardly so unusual for young ladies her age to enjoy romantic things anyway. Maybe even a healthy interest to have, something down to earth and normal to offset the more...intricate daily workings of Mockingbird. (Well, her extraordinary fixation on the Phaethon siblings aside...there's a lot of factors going on over there, though. Hugo's trying to be fairly hands-off about that!)]
Anyway, indeed, these are the two candidates I've been considering as well. Those little bangboo dolls of Miss Alexandrina's seem custom make, don't they? Haven't had much of a chance to observe them in action, though...they seem to stay with her quite frequently, and she's a tricky one to shadow. But this also means that Robin probably wouldn't be able to approach those bangboo without drawing her notice either.
That Butlerboo, though...I'd bet money Lycaon has a primary hand in its characteristics. As head of that housekeeping outfit, and playing as some sort of perfect butler all the time himself. [uh...] Knowing him, he's probably crammed a truly ridiculous amount of refinery and class into that thing. [uhhh...] Designed with charming their clients in mind, no doubt. If Robin has been seduced, it surely couldn't be by anything less than such charms?
[What irony? What projecting?? Definitely none of that happening here!]
[ Vivian does not point out that, yes, it would be wise for him to follow her lead where matters of the heart are concerned. No, she doesn't point that out. Hugo is charming to a fault, and handsome too--he could probably seduce just about anyone, but there's so much going on in that head of his that actual romance seems... unlikely.
His logic is hard to deny, however. She reads over the message, the furrow in her brow deepening as Hugo goes on and on and on about this bangboo. ]
So, you believe our beloved little Robin, who takes after you in no small part, is smitten with Victoria Housekeeping's Butlerboo, who takes after Lycaon.
[ She takes a sip of her tea on the other side of this text convo. ]
[............hey. hey--] Vivian, I can practically hear you sipping on that tea from the next room over.
[He can't, but he knows that's what you're doing over there right now!!]
Anyhow, Robin takes more after a certain classic play he favors than after me, I'd daresay. So I haven't the faintest idea what interesting thing you might be trying to imply here, [he does,] but I assure you're drawing parallels where there are none. My conjecture here is purely based off very objective facts. [very! objective! anyway...]
Besides, we still need to consider the crux of the problem as well. It's unrequited. [Just, flatly confident about this, apparently??]
Yes, I'm sipping on my tea. Would you like some? It's lavender Earl Grey--I could pour a cup for you as well.
[ Hugo would probably need something a little stronger than just tea to talk frankly about any of this but she can nudge him gently. ]
Unrequited? How do you know that if you're not even entirely sure that Butler is the one Robin is pining for? It isn't like you to jump to conclusions like that without knowing all the facts.
Look, if you don't want to face Lycaon, you don't have to. I'll go pay a visit and do a little digging. That way, we can decide how best to help Robin.
Oh, no, wouldn't dream of disturbing your perch at the moment. I just had such a distinct impression of something judgmental being done over a teacup's brim, for a moment there...not sure why...
[Definitely going to need something stronger to talk frankly about any of these implications floating around, yes. The gentle nudging's embarrassing...! Aren't these positions supposed to be reversed about now, what's going on here??]
That's, Facing Lycaon has nothing to do with it. And I'd hardly have an issue with such a prospect, even if it did. Though I suppose...I will grant, that a visitation from you instead of me would likely be a bit less suspect to everyone there on the whole. You're also not wrong that some proper digging wouldn't be remiss.
I'm not jumping to conclusions at all, though. I'm holding several facts that point to something unrequited pretty clearly. For one, we've not once seen that Butlerboo try to pay Robin a visit at our residence, now have we? The logs always indicate Robin going out of his own way. And besides that, there's also the matter of Robin's purchase history. Care to guess what he recently spent nearly his entire month's supply allowance on?
Flowers from Dew Gardening. Yet he never brought them here. Don't suppose you've seen them either?
