Ha, less complicated, more a bit exasperating. I already know exactly why this happens the way it does, but alas...illogical things care not for logic to begin with.
As to your suggestion: not a bad idea on paper in the least! A companion you could trust with such a thing as that...is someone to be cherished. Now I think about it, maybe going a little too long without that luxury in times past is part of the current problem...
Oh, not that my friend circle is in quite such dire straits these days. [there's vivian...there's even robin! but...] Unfortunately, though, one candidate is on patrol and the other is already asleep. This hardly yet feels like the sort of emergency that warrants disturbing either of them.
Really, what a pity the "enemies" aren't actually tangible enough to simply be eliminated either. I'd imagine that would be your next suggestion, as it's a sensible one, and would work for a problem more properly sensible in itself.
I see. But it looks like you're forgetting about one more candidate. One, that happens to have a really bad sleep schedule anyway and is currently messaging with someone in the middle of the night. Since he's already aware of your problem and is willing to help you out, why not give it a try? Unless, of course, you don't see that particular someone as trustworthy. It's understandable, though. We're talking about a mysterious traveler from who-knows-where here.
In the meantime, I'll try to come up with a better solution for you. The enemies who aren't tangible... I'm sure there has to be something that can be done about them.
